Summary: It is good to work for USCIS or FBI. There is loads of overtime while in service and even after retirement they fall on your feet to do more work. :D;)

Did you fill any I-9 form or your hr filed it? the status of the applicant is decided by the I-9 Employment eligibility form.
Even otherwise i dont think it is a problem, they can change the form again to show your respective status ?
He doesnt have to fill out I-9. Anyone else can do it. How did lawyer provide them with EAD? Didnt they mail the card to your place?
If I were you, and if it is true they changed your status without your knowledge, I would write them 4-5 F*** letter worded emails with copy to the boss.

I have H1 approval I-797 with me (received in last year quota) and H4 approval (which was applied before applying H1). Now I have a family emergency back home. I have to travel asap. My current H4 stamp in the passport is expired. So I have to go for stamping, either it be using H1 or using H4. Since I am unemployed at present I can't use H1 for stamping. If I come back on H4, what will happen to my H1 status? Will it be still valid to accept an employment or becomes void.
Please share your thoughts...

You are in H-1 status now as you applied for COS from H4 to H-1. So I am not sure if going for H4 stamping is still an option for you. I will let others weighin on this one.
Do you have AP instead? You can always come back on AP, doing so will not invalidate your H-1

I've done the entire process on my own untill today. I also did not have any lawyers involved in any of the misdemeanors. I do have documentation of all the cases. All cases are closed and I'm just paying the fines and have to put up with the probation. I spoke to a lawyer (first time I met with him) today and he advise me to pay him $600 to accompany me to the interview.
Any take on the lawyer's advice? Or can I take the challenge on my own?
Better to take a lawyer with you. He knows immigration law better than you do. At the most you stand to lose 600 bucks that way.

Those numbers would be correct as of 2nd half of 2004, I think. I got it from a Labor Cert discussion thread (from immigrationportal.com) around that time.

My company applied 485 and h1b. I am in AOS status and having EAD. My company laid off me on March and they are not revoke my h1b and 140(they may hire me back once get new job). Mean time shall i work hourly job and get around $1200 per month with same job description with using my EAD(new company will run payroll and W2). Also i am keep looking permanent full time job with my higher salary.
For the hourly job they asking to fill I-9(employment eligibility verification will inform USCIS). On that form asking my A# with EAD expiration date.
Is there a chance USCIS will know my hourly job?. My concern - this hourly job will create a problem for my GC process (chance to get REF) because rate is low
Please give me your valuable suggestion

hey guys can someone respond please? just to elaborate on my case. My wife's been here in US for the last 4 months. I had applied h-1b for her as consular processing. However in April this year she moved to Mumbai and then to USA. I've heard that you can go to stamping at the consulate region you've been staying for the past 6 months. Since she was at Mumbai for half of the time and then in USA, does it give us liberty to choose Mumbai consulate for stamping instead? Would there be any issues? We are thinking that at the time of interview, if they ask she can let them know she has moved to Mumbai and has her address there now. Would that be okay?

Well another Gandihigiri should be done after witnessing the visa bulletin, along with the the reunion of March 1st, lets send flowers along with a pamplet saying " I want to BUY A HOUSE IN AMERICA"
PAPU waht do you think? Before the meeting in DC, we should send the flowers along with brochures, can someone in IV take that responsibility, we can pitch in the money.
