I know this has been discussed zillion times on these forums. Parents health insurance is one big concern for many of our immigrant folks in here. Things have been changing and so does the insurance companies plans.
How are people on this forum opting for the health insurance companies?
A few suggested on this forum to get Insurance in USA for parents than in India. That would be good but how about the travelling insurance in that case. Does the USA company Insurance cover the parent travel too?
My father has pre existing health issues like Renal Failure. Now he is okay. So to say from insurance point of view he has pre existing health problems. So in that case will he be covered for any untowards health issues in USA under the plans? Even if it is little expensive we want to go for a comprehensive insurance plan that covers all the scenarios. Does any one have suggestions on the best way to go about this?

Point is not wikipedia or other site. They should be relying on information provided in proper legal format and not on some internet based site. Example if some one is working for Microsoft and if I google the keywords I might get some website which says how MS products are bad and how Bill Gates has stolen technology from XEROX etc. Which is all nonsense and no way concerns with the application in hand's of the IO. So they have the liberty to ask for more information where ever they need but they should not prejudice themselves by reading internet based information.

I was thinking more along the lines of transfering from US Public education school system to either ICSE, CBSE or Maharashtra Sate Board.
Upto what standard would it be relatively eay for a child to adapt and integrate into the Indian system ?

Hello,
I currently hold H1b visa (cap quota), i have an offer from a non profit organization and they are willing to sponsor for my H1b (non cap as this is from a non profit org). I'd like to know will there be any problem if in future i plan to move to a company that will sponsor h1b (cap). How difficult is to transfer from non cap h1 to cap h1?
I read online that if i plan to move from a non-cap h1 to cap h1 in future i have to apply in April under the general quota and wait until Oct to start work again. though i can work until the petition is pending.
I'd really appreciate any advise...

Company A - EB3 � PD Nov 2004.
Company B - EB2 � PD Feb 2007.
In July-2007 I applied 485 Using Company A EB3. In Apr-2008 I moved to Company B and In Feb 2009 my attorney sent an interfiling request to change the category on my EB3 case to EB2.
My attorney also told that, in general this kind of update look complex to the USCIS people and ignore the request.
If that happens then the next thing is to let our senator or congress man call to USCIS and request them to show more attention on that interfiling request. And you should do this after 3 months after sending the interfiling request.
One question, did you received the same alien number on both the I-140s or not? In my case my alien numbers are also different.
Also as of today I did not know whether my interfiling is success or not. The only way I will know about it is by calling the service center, which I haven�t done yet.
My attorney has confidence that we can get the category changed.
Also as mmrao2007 specified, my attorniey also sent the documents with a covering letter with a colored paper and big bold letters on top, explaining the case and related case numbers.

I don't know about Texas, but we live in CA and my wife (dependent on I-485) claimed unemployment benefits for about 3 months last year. We got a notice from EDD (Employment Development Dept) to send them a copy of EAD (for Alien Number) so they can let USCIS know that she has claimed unemployment benefits and if she is eligible in terms of immigration status.
A couple weeks later, we got another letter from EDD saying that after considering the decision from USCIS, you qualify for the unemployment benefits and your compensation per week would be so and so, etc.
(We have no idea what they actually asked USCIS and what USCIS answered them but nevertheless, they had a communication with them.)

Today morning�s market place on NPR had a feature on the shortage of qualified technical professionals in US, mainly because of the shortage of qualified American Professionals and difficulty in hiring foreign professionals. This discussion was in reference to a labor department report with regard to the new job creation. There was a mention that the oil and gas sector is also facing very high shortage of qualified and experienced technical since US had no major expansion in this area in the last decade as a result of which getting experienced professionals has become more difficult.
I also found this news article which also mentions the same thing.. may be it will help to bring this to notice of the lawmakers..

I agree only crying baby gets milk.
But only lucky applicants get green card :). Its not based on eligibility alone.
Now about protests and demonstrations. I dont think it will work in the US for a myriad of reasons.
I think every year about 30K or more people are coming from India
on H1B. I think half of them apply for GC. At least 200K Indian nationals
alone waiting in the line for GC. Why IV has only 5k? We should have atlease 50K members.
A working plan would be get atleast 100K people to our organization and have everybody contribute $100. That would give us $10Million. We can hire top people and companies to get it done. And donate big funds to these politician.
What I told is just a dream. Most of us here are free riders. In my company there are 5 people who are affected. I'm the only who checks regulary this site. I have to tell them again and again and again to send a fax or donate.
So what to do?

I think this is what is happening in your cases,
If you efile for your AP and If your last fingerprinting was done 18 months before Then you will get Fingerprinting notice and you got to go n give new finger prints.
If you paper file, Whether or not your FP expired (18 months) you will never get finger printing notice. (unless your PD is current and they are adjudicating your case and sending a RFE).
Always better to paper file.
So to confirm if what you are thinking is true or not I called USCIS,
The guy in TSC said it is a mistake and they will clarify it. I wasn't very convinced with his response, I called back after sometime, this time since there was no response to TSC it was route to other service center
As earlier even this time the representative in this center was not able to answer as to why it says "interview reschedules” but she did transferred me to an officer.
After several identification questions, Officer said this is not related to finger prints and she was not sure if it is related to I-485 interview either as they put reschedule interview note on my I-131 application.
Finally she gave me a WTC-XXXXXXXX-TSC number, asked for my cell # and asked me to call back after 10 days if I don’t hear anything from the USCIS.
I really don’t know what is happening; I don’t have much choice either other than waiting for something “GOOD “ to happen

We should try for
1. Either to remove country quota
or
2. Re-instate soft quota.
The above is a long term and final solution.
Other solutions - allowing to file 485, h1 extension for 3 more years will ease our life while we wait for the green card but the first two would make the wait shorter - do we want to "comfortably" wait longer or get to the end point faster ?
