What was the date of I485 approval? And when did the wife's 485 reach USCIS?
My friend has a unique situation. Please help out with your advise.
He had earlier applied for 485 in 2005(before October retrogression) and didnt get a chance to add his wife until the July bulletin(as he got married only after filing 485 and his PD was not current until the July 17th). His wife's application is now filed with the NSC center on 7/19th(didnt recieve the receipt notice yet) as a add-on and as a dependent for his original 485 application(he submitted I-134 affidavit of support along with his wife's application).
Today he got an email update from USCIS confirming that his 485 is approved. Since he doesnt know his wife's 485 status yet, he is not even sure if his wife's application is receipted or acknowledged as a dependent to his application. From Fedex, he can confirm that it reached the Nebraska CIS office on July 19th.
Considering his wife's application did go to the NSC center(7/19) before his 485 is approved(9/26), does this mean his wife is in-status or out-of-status(wife is on H-4 dependent visa). Their were not prepared for this news so soon and hence would appreciate any alternatives they can pursue.

It is not that I want to ask many questions.
It is just that I want to prepare for the consequences. Also, this information could be important to somebody else in the future, I am not thinking just about myself, so please understand & respect that.

You can try filing for COS from H1-H4 through a lawyer while she is in US. Most of the times H4 will be approved.My wife got it.

My parents visited here in US last year. Unfortunately my mother got high fever and admitted in hospital giving me bill of 30000$.
Insurance company denied my claims as pre existing condition. I tried several ways to convince insurance company but all in vain.
I negotiated with hospital to pay 15000 and paid off hospital bill.
I also got a doctor bill later and that went to collections. I didnt pay doctor bill (500 dollars) till today.
Does this 500 dollar collection notice will effect my mothers next visit?
If I pay now does it matter anyway?
Is there any chance of deportation?
Please advice...

last week we heard about Trivalley.
eb-3 -> eb2 seems like a minuscule problem now.
We are self destructing ourselves by making US gov loose complete trust on indian credibility with few of the above among hundreds of nuances we are causing.
If you are like me.. always following rules.. light at the end of tunnel seem to be diminishing very quickly than what we thought.

All that matters for the french is your stamping, if your passport stamping is valid(even if you are not on that visa anymore), you dont need. If your stamping expired, you need a transit visa, and you need to go in person for the french transit visa, which is not needed for german and british transit visa.

I brought toyota camry from a dealer in NY state last year feb/2010 on (toyota) finance, the dealer only asked me for my driver lience and ssn. he took copy of driver licence and ssn. nothing ask or talk about my immigration status etc, etc...
looking at me my friend (working with me) brought brand new toyota camry same month feb/2010 from PA dealer with 0% apr for 5 yrs. he also shown and given photo copy his driver licence and ssn.
myself and my friend both are on h1b visa.
this could be possibly happen because of private financing (toyota finance) not bank...

One quick clarification:
a) COS from H4 to H1 B status, does'nt need me to go through the quota/lottery system etc. Am I right?, because I did hear this from some folks that I would *not* have to go through the quota since I originally had a H1 B visa with validity date. ?
b) In case of my finding an opening with new employer & shifting COS back to H1 from H4, what time frame would it take?
c) further addition to point b) what kinds of documents would I need to submit to INS for COS back to H1? any idea?

Very Interesting set of links. We need to respond to each of these journalists thanking for any positive coverage but also highlighting the specific issues that is causign the backlog (7% per country limit and lack of visa recapture). We need to request that attention be paid to this aspect and how removal of per-country limit is neccessary to eliminate the greencard backlogs (and that visa recapture will at least provide limited relief). Most of such articles praise high-skilled immigrants but do not get to the root of the issue and the possible solutions. We need some folks to help with this IV media outreach. I am currently living in the US on H4. I will be getting my H1 approval in a couple of weeks.
What will be my status till Oct 1st from the day my H1 is approved?
Do they send a change of status to me as soon as I get my H1 approval? Or do I need to apply for change of status to H1 after I get approval?
What will happen if I APPLY for my EAD (from my husband,being on H4) before my H1 is approved?
What will happen to my H1 APPROVAL before Oct 1st, if my EAD gets approved on Sept 1st?

I was thinking of askign my lawyer to change my case from non rir to rir ?
i was wonderign if anyoenhas done it? and what are the risk factors in changing from non rir to rir?
My pd is oct2002? nothign heard after teh 45 day letter....

There is no -ve impact on coverting to RIR. If RIR is denied, you will still be processed as TR. You wont loose your PD

Americans want immigrants like yourself who follow the rules and contribute to American society; it is our valued tradition. What we don't want is illegals walking all over our laws. The illegals hurt lawfull immigrants. I married an immigrant who followed the rules, she's very bitter over the way this country is pandering to the Hispanic Reconquista crowd. Americans don't want the amnesty, but the government is pushing for it. Legal immigrants and applicants, IMO, should stand up and be heard to fight anmesty as well.

I just received the following email from CRIS regarding my son's AOS I-485 application:
